Guide Dog Users of Washington State (GDUWS) is a state-wide consumer organization. Our membership includes guide dog handlers as well as those who are interested in becoming guide dog handlers. We are puppy raisers, friends and family members of guide dog users. The majority of us are blind or visually impaired.

We are a chapter of the Washington Council of the Blind (WCB) http://wcbinfo.org/, and affiliates of the American Council of the Blind (ACB) http://acb.org/ and Guide Dog Users Inc. (GDUI) http://guidedogusersinc.org.

We make up a cross section of society with some of us professionals, moms and dads, rank and file workers, home makers, and more.

We have two meetings each year. One is in the spring/summer and is our Spring Fling. It is a 1 or 2 day meeting with program topics relative to living and working with guide dogs. In the fall, we have a business meeting breakfast and a luncheon during the Washington Council of the Blind State Convention.

We work in conjunction with the WCB advocacy committee to resolve issues that relate to guide dog teams. We also inform our members of legislation that is relevant to us as guide dog handlers.
